6 Best MoltSets Alternatives in 2026 (Free Options First)

Nick Timms·Published ·Reviewed by Duda Timms
The short version

MoltSets sells flat-rate B2B contact data to AI agents at $27 to $997 a month, but as of 16 September 2026 it is still in closed beta, covers the US only, caps “unlimited” plans at 5,000 to 1.125M requests per five hours, and gives no refunds. If you need company and technology data for an agent today, AgentData does it free with no card. If you need US mobile numbers at volume, AgentEnrich and Apollo are the closest paid substitutes. Every price below was read from the vendor’s own pricing page on 16 September 2026.

Why people look for a MoltSets alternative

MoltSets launched into closed beta in late August 2026 with a pitch that lands well with anyone building sales agents: no per-seat pricing, no credits, flat monthly tiers, and an MCP server you can plug into Claude Code, Codex or Clay without writing integration code. The founder, Adam Robinson of RB2B and Retention.com, has been open about the thesis in the RB2B newsletter: contact data is a commodity, so sell it flat and win on channel.

The pitch is right. The product is early. Five things send people looking elsewhere, and all five come from MoltSets’ own site or newsletter, not from competitors.

1. It’s still a closed beta. The homepage header reads “MoltSets Console - CLOSED BETA” and the primary call to action is “join our closed beta.” Admission is wave-based. If you have a workflow to ship this week, you may not have an account this week.

2. It’s US-only. The FAQ says: “MoltSets will launch with US data only. We aim to add Europe/EMEA, Asia/APAC, and Canada by the end of Q3 2026.” Q3 ends in two weeks. As of today the FAQ hasn’t changed. If your ICP is in London, Berlin or Sydney, MoltSets has nothing for you yet.

3. “Unlimited” is a rate limit. The FAQ is candid about this: accounts are “limited by rate limits, not data,” with a Fair Use Policy that operates on five-hour windows with weekly record limits to prevent scraping. The pricing page puts numbers on it: 5,000 requests per five hours on the $27 Starter plan, 75,000 on Professional. That’s a real ceiling, and it’s fine, but it’s not what “unlimited” means to most buyers.

4. No refunds, ever. From the FAQ: “MoltSets does not offer refunds on purchases or renewals. Because paid plans include unlimited use for the full billing period, the value is available from the moment payment is processed.”

5. No UI, no public data. MoltSets is API and MCP only. There is no web app to search in, no public company pages, nothing to check before you pay. For an agent-first buyer that’s a feature. For everyone else on the team it means the data is invisible.

None of this makes MoltSets a bad product. It makes it a specific one: US contact data, delivered flat-rate to developers who are comfortable with rate windows and a beta queue. The alternatives below cover the people that description doesn’t. If you only want the head-to-head, the MoltSets alternative page has it in one screen.

MoltSets pricing and limits, verified September 2026

We read these from moltsets.com/pricing and moltsets.com/faq on 16 September 2026. Third-party pages get this wrong: one competitor comparison lists MoltSets’ top tier at $497 with phones at $0.25 each; one review lists a “Pro” tier at 1,000 requests per minute. Neither matches the live page.

Extra mobile tokens: “as little as $0.20 per token.” Bulk flat files: contact sales (the RB2B newsletter has quoted “start at $60k”). Annual pricing: not shown. Refunds: none.

What’s included on every plan, per the pricing page: verified business and personal email APIs, a carrier-verified mobile API, people and company search, and email validation. Data comes from an in-house database with a “20+ vendor waterfall” fallback when a record isn’t held in-house.

Note the Free plan carefully: 1,000 records lifetime, not per month. It’s a test allowance, not a free tier you can run on.

1. AgentData: free company and tech intelligence for agents

Disclosure: AgentData is our product. We built it, so read this section as a founder’s description and check it against the docs.

AgentData is a company intelligence layer for AI agents and growth teams. It crawls company websites continuously, detects the technologies they run (845 tracked, 16.4M detections so far), profiles the company (sector, size, description, location), finds verified email addresses (9M+) and people (2.9M+), and records when a company switches from one tool to another. You get it three ways: the web app, a REST API, and an MCP server at mcp.agentdata.run/mcp or via npx agentdata-mcp-server.

What it costs: nothing. There are no paid tiers. Sign up, no card, and you get 1,000 lookups a day at 5 requests a second across the API and MCP. Fair-use limits apply and are published in the terms.

Where it beats MoltSets

  • Available now, to anyone. No beta queue.
  • Global coverage. The data comes from crawling websites, so a UK fintech and a Texas HVAC company are profiled the same way. This is the gap MoltSets says it will close “by the end of Q3 2026.”
  • Technographics. MoltSets sells contacts. AgentData tells your agent that a company runs Intercom, HubSpot and Stripe, and that it dropped Zendesk last month. If your agent is building lists by tech stack or watching for switch signals, that’s the core of the job, and no contact vendor on this list does it. Browse the full technology directory.
  • Public pages. Every company, technology and sector has a public page you can read before you query anything. Your team can browse; your agent can call.
  • Free means free. MoltSets’ free plan is 1,000 records for life. AgentData’s is 1,000 a day.

Where MoltSets beats it

  • Mobile numbers. AgentData doesn’t sell carrier-verified mobiles. If your workflow is cold calling US buyers, MoltSets, AgentEnrich or Apollo are the right tools.
  • Waterfall depth on US contacts. MoltSets checks 20+ external vendors when it misses in-house. AgentData’s contacts come from its own crawl. On a US mid-market SaaS account, MoltSets will usually return more named people.
  • Profile depth varies. 128M+ domains are indexed, but a two-page brochure site gets a thinner profile than a 500-page SaaS site. Check the “Last updated” date on any company page before you trust it; the current average is 2.4 days.

Run it yourself (Claude Code, about two minutes)

# 1. Sign up at agentdata.run, then create a key at agentdata.run/settings
# 2. Add the hosted MCP server to Claude Code
claude mcp add agentdata --transport http https://mcp.agentdata.run/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

# 3. Ask, in plain English
"Find UK software companies that use Intercom, then find the head of
support at each one with a verified email."

Claude calls search_companies with tech: "intercom" and country: "GB", then find_people per domain with department: "support" and has_email: true, and returns a table with confidence scores on every email. Each company found is one lookup against your 1,000 a day; there are no credits because there is nothing to buy. The six tools are listed in the API docs.

Best for: anyone building agents that need company and technology context, teams outside the US, and anyone who wants to test a data layer before they ever consider paying for one.

Start free →No card. 1,000 lookups a day.

2. AgentEnrich: flat-rate credits with a public sandbox

AgentEnrich appeared within weeks of MoltSets with almost the same pitch, aimed squarely at MoltSets’ waitlist: 31 endpoints, an MCP server (npx @agentenrich/mcp), and pre-paid credit pools instead of rate windows. Its own “vs MoltSets” page is the most-clicked result for this query after MoltSets itself.

Pricing (agentenrich.com/pricing, 16 September 2026): Builder $49/mo for 65,000 credits at 325 credits per minute; Pro $97/mo for 130,000 credits; Scale $199/mo for 270,000; Agency $399/mo for 550,000 (or $199 as a “UGC partner”). Each verified mobile costs 12 credits. Credits “roll over forever.” Seven-day free trial, no card. The first 1,000 accounts get “founding rates locked for life.”

What’s good: the public sandbox returns canned responses for all 31 endpoints with “No signup. No card. No API key,” so you can wire the integration before you commit. Credits that don’t expire are friendlier than five-hour windows. Coverage is claimed across 200+ countries with the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Singapore and India strongest.

What to check: the “500M+ people, 70M+ companies” figures are unsourced, and the sandbox returns canned data, so you can’t evaluate real coverage without a key. Its MoltSets comparison quotes prices that don’t match MoltSets’ current page. Like MoltSets, it has no technographics and no public data pages.

Best for: teams that want MoltSets’ flat-rate feel with a real trial, and need US mobiles.

3. DataForB2B: credit-metered API with the biggest people index

DataForB2B claims “800M+ verified profiles and 75M+ companies” behind a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server. It has been the most aggressive SEO publisher in this category, shipping 20 “How to connect Claude to X data” posts in two weeks over the summer, plus eleven alternatives pages.

Pricing (dataforb2b.ai/pricing, 16 September 2026): Starter $49/mo for 3,000 credits; Premium $150/mo for 10,000; Pro $450/mo for 40,000; Enterprise custom with unlimited credits. Per-operation costs: profile or company match 0.75 credits, live profile 1.5, verified work email 1, personal email 3. No free tier. No auto-billed overages; the API returns quota_exceeded until the next cycle. Month to month, cancel in one click.

What’s good: predictable metering, clear per-call costs, and a large index if the claims hold. The no-overage policy is the opposite of a credit trap.

What to check: there’s no free tier and no sandbox, so evaluation means paying $49. Record-count claims are unsourced. No technographics.

Best for: developers who want a large people database with transparent credit costs and don’t need a free tier.

4. Apollo: the incumbent, now with an MCP server

Apollo is the tool most MoltSets buyers are leaving, and it’s still the reference point. It now ships an MCP server (OAuth, works in Claude and ChatGPT) and reports that roughly a third of its MCP users never open the Apollo app.

Pricing (per user; Apollo’s pricing table renders client-side, so these are from Hacking Demand’s teardown verified 10 July 2026, and worth checking directly): Free $0; Basic $49/mo annual or $65 monthly; Professional $79 annual or $99 monthly; Organization $119 annual or $149 monthly. Credits are granted annually: Basic 30,000, Professional 48,000, Organization 72,000; the Free plan gets 900 per seat per year, granted monthly, so roughly 75 a month. Email unlocks cost 1 credit, mobiles 8.

What’s good: breadth. Sequences, dialer, CRM sync, a mature database, and now MCP. If you want one vendor for data and execution, Apollo is that vendor.

What to check: per-seat pricing is exactly what MoltSets buyers are trying to escape, credit maths gets expensive at agent scale (8 credits per mobile), and Apollo has pulled its public directory pages from Google this year, so there’s less to see before you sign up. No technographics. We compare it line by line on the Apollo alternative page.

Best for: sales teams that want data and outreach in one place and are fine paying per seat.

5. Explorium: pay-as-you-go credits for GTM agents

Explorium has leaned hard into the Claude Code and agent audience, publishing long tutorials on building outbound agents and ranking GTM tools for Claude Code. Its MCP server is central to the pitch.

Pricing (explorium.ai/pricing, 16 September 2026): 100 trial credits valid 90 days; Lite $29.99 for 500 credits ($0.06 each); Starter $149.99 for 5,000 ($0.03); Growth $749.99 for 30,000 ($0.025); Scale $7,499.99 for 500,000 ($0.015). Enrichments cost 1 to 5 credits, events 1. Packages are non-refundable and don’t auto-renew; credits expire after 12 months.

What’s good: true pay-as-you-go, no subscription, and the packages don’t renew unless you buy again. Firmographic and event data (funding, hiring) sit alongside contacts, which is more company context than the pure contact vendors offer.

What to check: it’s the most expensive per record on this list at low volume, the trial is 100 credits, and the company data is firmographic rather than technographic; it won’t tell you what software a site runs.

Best for: occasional enrichment inside an agent where you’d rather buy a package than hold a subscription.

6. People Data Labs: the free 22M-company dataset

People Data Labs is a different shape from everything else here: a data vendor rather than a prospecting tool, and the only one that gives away a dataset you can redistribute.

The free part: the Free Company Dataset is “over 22 million global companies” with name, website, industry, size, founded, country, region, locality and LinkedIn URL, released under CC BY 4.0, updated quarterly, downloadable as CSV or JSON. You can load it into your own database and query it forever, with attribution.

The API (per Cleanlist’s 1 September 2026 pricing guide; PDL’s pricing page is client-rendered): free plan of 100 records a month with emails, phones and addresses obfuscated; self-serve from $98/mo for 350 records ($0.28 each) or $940/yr ($0.224 each); bulk tiers annual only.

What’s good: for company-level agent context (who is this domain, roughly how big, what industry) the free dataset covers a lot of ground at zero marginal cost, and it’s the cleanest licence in the category.

What to check: no technographics, no first-party MCP server, the free API tier is obfuscated, and the dataset is a quarterly snapshot rather than live.

Best for: teams who want to own a company table and enrich it themselves.

At 5,000 a month the picture changes: MoltSets Starter’s 5,000-requests-per-five-hours window covers it for $27, AgentEnrich Builder still has room, Apollo’s Basic (2,500 credits a month) and Professional (4,000) both fall short so you’re on Organization or a second seat, PDL is over $1,000, and AgentData is still $0 within the 1,000-a-day cap, spread across five days or more.

When MoltSets is still the right choice

We’d point you back to MoltSets in three cases.

You’re selling into the US by phone. Carrier-verified mobiles at flat rates, with 10 to 250 tokens included and extras at $0.20, is a strong offer that AgentData doesn’t make at all and Apollo makes at 8 credits a number.

You run high-volume enrichment in bursts. If your agent enriches 50,000 records on a Monday and nothing on Tuesday, the five-hour window model suits you better than monthly credit pools.

You’re already inside the RB2B ecosystem. MoltSets is built by the same team and is designed to sit alongside it.

If none of those describes you, and especially if your market is outside the US or your agent needs to know what software companies run, MoltSets isn’t the tool yet, whatever its roadmap says.

How to choose

Start with one question: does your agent need to know what a company runs, or who works there?

If it needs technographics (find companies using X, watch for switches, qualify by stack), AgentData is the only tool on this list that does it, and it’s free, so start there and add a contact vendor only if you hit a gap.

If it needs US mobiles, pick between MoltSets (flat, beta, no refunds), AgentEnrich (credits, trial, sandbox) and Apollo (per seat, full suite).

If it needs a large people index with metered costs and you don’t mind paying to evaluate, DataForB2B.

If you’d rather own the data, download PDL’s company dataset and enrich it yourself, using AgentData’s API for the tech layer.

Whatever you pick, test with real domains from your ICP before you pay. Every vendor here will look complete on Stripe and Shopify. The differences show up on a 40-person company in Leeds.
